The Liwan Foundation for Culture and Heritage organized a Liwan session titled:
Heritage and Innovation: Sustaining Roots and Building the Future
Yesterday, Friday, February 7, 2025, the session was attended by a group of educated female diplomats, academics, and heritage enthusiasts. The session was presented by Dr. Badriya Al Dhaheri, a consultant and academic with practical experience in the field of heritage and its preservation. The session was moderated by Her Excellency Dr. Amal Al Haddabi, Advisor to Sheikha Salama bint Tahnoon Al Nahyan.
This session discussed the complementary relationship between heritage and innovation, and how technology can be harnessed to preserve and enhance cultural identity in light of the rapid changes taking place in the world. We also addressed the challenges facing combining heritage and modernity, and ways to achieve a balance between them to ensure their sustainability.
Heritage constitutes an important component of the identity of societies, reflecting their values, traditions, and history. When heritage is preserved and respected, individuals’ sense of pride and belonging to their society and culture is enhanced. It serves as a meeting point for interaction and communication among members of society.
